Understanding relevant Taxi Subsidy Schemes

If you are a participant of the NDIS or a Pensioner, you may be eligible to partake in your local government's Taxi Subsidy Scheme. Below is information for each state's subsidy service.

Queensland - QLD TSS Website

The Taxi Subsidy Scheme (TSS) pays half of the total fare up a maximum of $30 per trip.
Up to a maximum fare of $60.

For example:
If the fare is $20, the Passenger pays $10 and $10 is paid by the subsidy
If the fare is $70, the Passenger pays $40 and $30 is paid by the subsidy

Victoria - MPTP Website

The Multi-Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) subsidy pays 50% of the Passenger’s fare up to a maximum of $60 per trip. Any tolls, airport fees and Silver Service surcharges are paid for by the Passenger. The subsidy amount is capped at $2180.00 per financial year per card holder.

For example
If the fare is $70, the Passenger pays $35 and $35 is paid by the subsidy
If the fare is $170, the Passenger pays $110 and $60 is paid by the subsidy

Western Australia - WA TUSS Website

The Taxi Users Subsidy Scheme (TUSS) pays 50% of the Passenger’s fare up to a maximum of $25 per trip.

For example
If the fare is $40, the Passenger pays $20 and $20 is paid by the subsidy
If the fare is $70, the Passenger pays $45 and $25 is paid by the subsidy

New South Wales - ​TTSS Website

The Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme (TTSS) subsidy pays 50% of the Passenger’s fare up to a maximum of $60 per trip. Any tolls, airport fees and Silver Service surcharges are paid for by the Passenger.

For example
If the fare is $70, the Passenger pays $35 and $35 is paid by the subsidy
If the fare is $170, the Passenger pays $110 and $60 is paid by the subsidy

Northern Territory - NTTS Website

The Northern Territory Taxi Subsidy Scheme (NTTS) pays 50% of the Passenger’s maximum fare. There is no limit.

For example
If the fare is $70, the Passenger pays $35 and $35 is paid by the subsidy
If the fare is $170, the Passenger pays $85 and $85 is paid by the subsidy

South Australia - SATSS Website

The South Australia Taxi Subsidy Scheme (SATSS) pays 50% of the Passenger’s fare. Membership is divided into two categories:

  • Ambulant Members
    subsidy pays 50% of the Passenger’s fare up to a maximum of $20 per trip​​​​

  • Members in a Wheelchair
    subsidy pays 75% of the Passenger’s fare up to a maximum of $30 per trip
